Evident in the emergence of several new projects, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) are currently experiencing new popularity. Even though early implementations such as the infamous TheDAO1 already surfaced a long time ago, the conceptualized theory surrounding DAOs is still in a very nascent stage.This report examines the current status quo, proposes a working taxonomy of DAOs, and looks at relevant industry efforts.
