Bruce Kogut
Professor, Columbia Business School
Bruce Kogut's primary job is an academic at the business school and sociology department at Columbia University. Until 2025, he was one of the heads of computational social science at the university and led the initiative on Business, AI and Democracy, or BAID, that is part of the HUB project at the B-School.
They did and do research on misinformation, media, new forms of democracy, e.g., DAOs, and AI. Besides the think tank research, BAID also included a speaker series for the public with their partner Dear Mama — a coffee house, restaurant, and community venue for music and ideas: see https://business.columbia.edu/hub/baid.
He has taken advantage of the many opportunities to work with people and institutions outside academics, throughout the world. He is currently on the academic advisory board to the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and has been on other boards — business, advisory, non-profit.
He teaches classes in governance (for all kinds of entities, including DAOs and hybrid organizations such as OpenAI) and on solving social problems. He founded the INSEAD Social Enterprise Program, the first of its kind to provide executive training for social entrepreneurs, and is glad to see that program having expanded globally.
