Head of Research
Samuel Vance-Law is Head of Research at the Decentralization Research Center (DRC), where he leads the organization's research on decentralized AI, digital identity, and privacy-enhancing technologies.
He is co-author of the DRC's 2026 report on alternatives to concentrated AI and runs the Center's grants program. He has written on DAO governance and legal liability, data cooperatives, blockchain and antitrust, and decentralized identity for the Stanford Journal of Blockchain Law & Policy, the Belfer Center, Project Liberty, and Tech Policy Press.
Before joining the DRC he worked for a decade as a musician, releasing two records and building Democracy in Music, an open-source project applying democratic decision-making to composition and ownership
